Provides the principal statutory foundation for India’s regulation of information technology, electronic records, cyber offences, intermediary responsibilities, digital signatures, cyber incident response and specified powers relating to interception, blocking and protected systems. Sections concerning reasonable security, intermediaries, unlawful content, blocking, critical systems and CERT-In powers can intersect with AI platforms, generative-AI services, deepfakes, automated fraud and cybersecurity incidents.
