Sets the substantive criminal-law framework relevant to conduct that may be enabled, amplified or disguised through AI and digital systems. For AI, the BNS is important because harmful AI conduct may already fall within technology-neutral criminal offences even where India does not have a separate offence labelled “AI misuse.” For data protection and trust, it provides the punitive legal backstop against fraudulent or deceptive uses of personal identity, digital records and synthetic representations.
