PURVIEW
Provides the procedural safeguards for the Central Government’s power to direct blocking of public access to information under Section 69A of the IT Act. In the AI context, the Rules matter where AI-generated or AI-amplified content is hosted online and becomes subject to lawful blocking directions. They therefore form part of the platform-governance layer relevant to deepfakes, unlawful synthetic content and other AI-enabled online material. Their role is procedural: they prescribe how the statutory blocking power is exercised rather than creating a general AI content-regulation regime.
