PURVIEW

Establishes specific standards for preventing misleading advertisements and regulating endorsements under the Consumer Protection Act framework. For AI, direct where generative AI creates advertising copy, synthetic personas, recommendations, testimonials or other representations that may mislead consumers. The Guidelines help frame the responsibilities around truthfulness, substantiation, disclosure and responsible presentation of promotional claims. For privacy, they become relevant when AI-generated or AI-personalised advertising uses consumer data to target individuals, because the legality of the advertisement and the lawfulness of the data processing are separate but connected compliance questions.
