European Union Artificial Intelligence Act (EU AI Act)
The European Union AI Act is the world's first comprehensive AI regulation. It establishes a risk-based framework for artificial intelligence systems, prohibiting unacceptable AI practices while imposing obligations on providers, deployers, importers, and distributors of high-risk and general-purpose AI models. The Act also introduces transparency requirements, governance mechanisms, conformity assessments, and significant penalties for non-compliance.
