California AI Transparency Act (SB 942)- California

The California AI Transparency Act (SB 942) establishes transparency obligations for providers of generative AI systems. It requires covered providers to offer AI detection tools, enable clear disclosure of AI-generated content, embed provenance information, protect user privacy, and comply with enforcement mechanisms designed to improve transparency and trust in AI-generated media. The Act becomes operative on 1 January 2026.
