Examines the copyright challenges created by generative AI, particularly the use of protected works for training, text-and-data mining, licensing, remuneration and possible institutional approaches to balancing innovation with rights-holders’ interests. The working paper is not itself binding law, but it is highly relevant to understanding the direction of Indian policy debate on GenAI and copyright. For AI governance, it highlights that responsible model development requires attention not only to privacy and cybersecurity but also to intellectual-property provenance and lawful access to training material.
